Meet 4 year old Nevaeh and her 7 day old baby sister. Baby was so wonderful, sleeping through the majority of our session. And Nevaeh, she was so well behaved with me and she has become my new buddy. At the end of our session all she wanted to do is hug and cuddle with me, how sweet is that! Thank you Nevaeh for making this such a memorable session, I can't wait to hang out with you again.

Here is yet another repeat performance. The first time I photographed this handsome little man was when he was 2 months old. He was a preemie, born about 8 weeks early, so essentially, I photographed him as a "newborn". He was as small as can be back then, but boy has he grown. Little Matthew is now 9 months old and full of personality and developing right on schedule. I know he has a very proud mommy!

Hi everyone. I have not posted on the blog for a few days because I am so busy fulfilling pre-Christmas orders. I have 3 sessions to post, which I will be doing next week.

This is a big weekend in my little world...
Today my husband is graduating from his nursing program, so we will be participating in the festivities of this giant accomplishment this evening. It is also his birthday this weekend so we will be out of town at a very exciting event for us in LA. We have been looking forward to this for such a long time!

Here is my second photo session I had over the Thanksgiving break in Modesto. I have photographed his big sister 3 times already, but this his first time in front of my lens. He is so handsome in his little man outfit, and oh so sweet.

The rest of December holds a string of newborn babies along with a few return clients. I cannot wait to try out some of my new baskets with my favorite subjects!

This was a very special maternity session I did while in Modesto over the Thanksgiving weekend. I have known this mommy for a few of years now, and as soon as she first saw my photographic art, she promised me I would be her baby photographer. Fast forward a couple of years and she is now at the end of her first pregnancy, and I am the privileged one who gets to photograph her!

She made a comment at our session that during this pregnancy she feels the sexiest she has ever felt in her life, and I can see why. She has one of the most beautiful, round, and perfect bellies, and it photographed amazingly. I had a difficult time choosing which images to show off because they were all perfect. Thanks mommy for keeping your promises, I will see you around Christmas time to photograph your baby boy.

These siblings are some of the most active I have ever attempted to photograph. To get one image of all three of them together was virtually impossible, but we did it! What a wonderful photo session we had with this little lady on her first birthday. She is so bright, and was the most aware of the camera than any other 1 year old I have ever photographed. I was truly impressed! And ohh the fantastic images we captured together.

This 7 day old angel has one VERY proud family. I had a large audience, complete with a video camera for much of the photo session, watching our every move! No surprise being she is the first baby on both sides of the family. Once she fell asleep, she became one of my easiest newborns to photograph, I could only dream that all my sessions are so simple. Like so many of my clients, this family has been to me 4 times in the last year. I have enjoyed each session with this little guy, watching him grow so much bigger, and smarter. And he was so very brave sitting up in the tree (with mom's help). When we took him down, he demanded that we let him go back up.

Time for 2009

I am currently booking sessions for my limited schedule in early 2009. If you would like to have photographs taken with me before April, please email me at jamie@iseebeauty.com right away, as my schedule fills fast.

I am very excited for 2009, as it will be a life changing year for me. My husband and I have scheduled a trip to his homeland of Cameroon in March. During this month of traveling, we will also be visiting Paris and Israel. I have already visited 16 countries in my lifetime, but a sacred pilgrimage to the holy land and the opportunity to meet my extended family in Cameroon is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Because of this big trip, my schedule for the first half of 2009 is very limited. I will be scheduling 2-3 sessions a week through February. We will be leaving in early March and arriving back in early April. I will resume my regular schedule in mid-April, after recovering and showing all of you my photographs from the trip!

If you have traveling advice for my trip please feel free to leave a comment. I will take all the well wishes I can get.

Color Color Everywhere! Fresno Family Photographs

I may sound like I am repeating myself, but here is another big Sister I connected with during an earlier session. My job is wonderful in so many ways... Oftentimes I walk into a house of a new client and leave the session with new friends. This family is a great example of this happening. These 'former' clients are now good friends of mine. I have stopped by their house to visit a couple of times to play with the girls and I am planning on doing more of that.

Also, to my surprise, mom convinced my husband to be her new morning running partner!?! My husband was so inspired by the fact he will have a running partner that he took off at 11:30 pm yesterday evening, in the rain, to run 4 miles (he said he needs to start working up to their early morning jogs). Thanks mom for the inspiration, my husband is going to be even more good looking after you get finished working him out! ;)

Mom did a great job choosing the most darling outfits for the girls, and the colors look marvelous against the natural backgrounds of the park. I am in LOVE with that second photo of baby in the fall leaves. Her expression is priceless and did I mention how great the colors look?

Having Fun with Alex and his Little Sis.

I first entered this family's life when their baby was only 4 days old back in April. Fast forward 6 months and she is sitting and big brother is just as charming as ever. I did not have the kids pose at all in this first image, yet their hands seem to mirror each other.

Here is a cute little story: During our first session back in April, big brother Alex and I connected as I was taking photographs of his baby sister. He used a paper towel core as a camera to mimic me while we were taking pictures. Below is a photo Dad took of us together during that initial session.

Inspired by my experience with Alex at our first session, I gave him a mini toy camera as a thank you for being so good during Thursdays family session.

Mom emailed me later that evening and said, "I wanted to let you know Alex has not put down the little camera you gave him. He took it to preschool to show all his friends and came home with it - which is an amazing feat since daycare tends to be a black hole for items. As I type this he is laying on the couch watching tv and holding it!"

I spoke with mom today and he is still playing with it 3 days later. Mom, I think you have a budding photographer on your hands. I better watch out, Alex may be my new competition! :)

I had a wonderful time photographing this 6 day old angel. I just did mom's maternity session about 2 weeks ago and to my amazement she is already here! She gave me the opportunity to use my new 'mini' baby carriage along with trying out some new inspirational poses. She was a real trooper, and even gave me a few "gifts" in the process.

He is a challenge to get to smile, but thank goodness my husband came along to help out. He was able to dance around and act crazy enough to get some sweet expressions on Jake. ;)

It's My Birthday Too!

On a more personal note: At midnight this morning my husband came to me while I was working in my office and played a "happy birthday" song and danced for me with the biggest smile on his face. He then proceeded to bring me an African Violet plant (very appropriate since he is my African Prince) and two cards full of the sweetest love dedications to me.

What a wonderful way to begin my 32nd birthday! Below is a photo of us from our trip to Yosemite last Thursday. It was my husbands first time in the National Park, and the trees were bright yellow, a spectacular site.

In the closing of one of the cards my husband gave me he wrote, "Thank you for being my wife. I Love You countlessly. My love is huge, like from the earth to the milky space and back." I giggled when I read that, kind of reminds me of one of my favorite children's books, Guess How much I Love You. What a sweetie man he is!

In an hour we are meeting our group of friends out for dinner for my birthday celebration, so I must go get ready for our evening out.:)

These two cuties are not from any typical photo shoot... they are the beautiful children of one of my favorite professors while I was at Fresno State. This mommy taught me everything I know about figure drawing and helped foster my talent in painting. I admire her as an individual, as a teacher, as an artist, and now as a mother. What an honor it was to be the one to photograph her precious children, and oh the pressure I had to get it right! ;)

Thanks mom and dad for being so wonderful, and I hope you like the way your unexpected "livingroom makeover" turned out.

I have been watching this little ladybug grow for the past year, and I must say that I have had the biggest adventures with mom and baby during this time. Last night I came home from our session exhausted and with dry grass from that field poking me all over. But it was worth it, we captured some wonderful images. What do you think mom?

No worries, mom is hiding behind the tree with a good grip on her!

Sometimes children make me laugh so hard that I barely manage to get the image. Take a look at this pumpkin squat... She was standing there for the longest time and then decided to take a load off, playing a precision game of balance. She had mom and I rolling in laughter.

I have found that one of the most challenging ages to photograph is between 2 and 3 years old. It is at this time that the children are gaining both big opinions and independence. This new found attitude is not always willing to cooperate, especially with photographs. We were lucky enough to get this sister duo (2 and 3 years old) to cooperate for about the first 5 minutes, and I am sure that these initial images will be enduring childhood memories for the girls. Oso's New Buddy. Creative Baby Photography

You may recognize these two from the maternity session we did at the end of August. It was a perfect session with a happy sleepy baby, beautiful home and wonderful parents. It was worth the weekend trip to the bay area to capture their little boy.

Mom and Dad really wanted Oso to take a photo with baby too... this image may look like it was easily accomplished, but think again. It took a list of ingredients to make this shot work:

- One well exercised (ie: tired) Lab.
- One very cooperative baby who did not wake up even while being licked :)
- One jar of quarters (to hold up the basket)
- One can of black beans and six cans of tuna... don't ask
- A professional dog handler (aka: Dad)
- Lets not forget the dog treats!
- A dash of patience

I had the opportunity to photograph another wonderful family a few days back. They are waiting for little sister to arrive in the next two weeks or so, and I am already excited to come back and photograph their new bundle. Thanks for a session filled with fun.

This 8 day old "belle" surprised everyone by arriving 4 weeks early. Weighing in at just under 5 pounds, she was so pliable and easy to photograph. I even saw the hint of an old soul while photographing her, something I have never seen in such a young baby.

I am so very proud of this first image in daddy's hands. She is clearly taking a place as one of my new little stars!

Take a look at this handsome and o' so cooperative 2 month old. He must have known how much mommy wanted these photographs. I thought for sure that this session would be difficult due to his age, but instead it was a breeze with such a sweet sleepy boy that let us move him around however we choose. With his wild and crazy hair, amazingly long eyelashes, and kissable cheeks, mommy did everything she could from 'eating' him up during the session.

Honoring Pregnancy and the Birthing Process

Being a photographer that focuses on maternity and newborn clients, I have the honor to hear many of birth stories. Each story ending in a beautiful bundle of joy, but some also have struggles and long lasting emotional stress associated with them.

Sunday's performance of "Birth" at the Tower Theater was an eye opening and informative experience for me. The 8 birth stories presented in the play each resonated with many of the birthing tales I have heard from my clients. Not yet having the gift of experiencing pregnancy and labor first hand did not seem to make a difference for the play's emotional impact. The performance left me empowered in my abilities as a woman, and sparked an inner flame.

Sunday's play also shared with me many of the choices we have as women in regards to childbirth. I want to make a commitment to pass on this new found knowledge to you, and provide a pathway to access the resources located here in the Central Valley.

I am adding a NEW "Motherhood Resources" links to my blog to assist you in finding the information and resources you need to have a healthy and happy birth. I encourage you to explore your choices in childbirth by visiting these links and making use of the wonderful resources around you.

You may want to start by checking out Mommy Matters "In-Home Pregnancy Concierge Service". Their goal is to take the anxiety out of pregnancy and allow you to enjoy your journey. In this way you can be better prepared for the transition into parenthood.

Their service provider will walk you through where you are in your pregnancy now and guide you through to baby's first weeks. She will also inform you on what resources are available to you during pregnancy and the first few years. You will find out together which style of Childbirth Education will work best for you and your partner, and how to find the care provider that will help you have the birth you want.

A New Soul. Baby Art Photography

I am always excited to meet new babies, especially when their parents are good friends of ours, as in the case of this 10 day old bundle of happiness. Our day with these family friends was fabulous as we casually photographed their beautiful daughter, talked, took more pictures, ate a home cooked meal and even watched a movie... a unique and very relaxed photo session. I must admit, it was a wonderful break from the norm.

While watching the movie I even had the blessing of holding this sleeping angel for at least an hour (maybe longer?) and I must say that I was in heaven as she snuggled up to me, melting in my arms. She definitely stole my heart, and I kept threatening to keep her many times! ;) She started my baby clock ticking like never before... just looking at the photographs brings tears to my eyes.

I have been getting calls and emails with mothers grabbing the last of my dates for the year. So it's now official, to my surprise with a full 3 months to go, the remainder of my 2008 schedule is FULL. I wish I could accommodate everyone, but I am sorry to say that I will have to turn away any other family clients that want to get in before the holidays are up.

The only clients I WILL be taking for the rest of 2008 is maternity and newborn babies under 14 days old. If you are expecting a baby please contact me as soon as possible to get into my schedule.

I have a waiting list for babies over 14 days old that I am keeping in case of cancellations.

This little lady's expression is priceless. I am so in love with this image and her sweet little lips and curious eyes, I can stare at it for hours. Thanks Isabella for being so darn cute.

My Schedule is Almost FULL!

August is now at its end and has been a month that has shattered all records at I See Beauty Photography for the most sessions ever in one month, by nearly double! I was planning on it being a low key "catch up" month so I can prepare for the upcoming busy season. All my intentions were out the window as mother after mother called me at the last minute to "squeeze" their babies into my schedule. My soft heart could not turn them away.

My schedule is almost full with only 9 session openings until December... make that 8 (one just booked as I was typing out this posting.) With such a packed schedule I have very little time for last minute requests. An early apology to all those families I will have to turn away this fall as I can no longer guarantee room to squeeze in unexpected sessions for the remainder of 2008.

If you are expecting a baby, please arrange a session with me before your baby is born and I will make every effort to be sure your little one is photographed within the first two weeks. Any requests for babies out of the "Newly Born" stage (over 14 days old) will have to be put on a waiting list and called if something opens up.

My quick trip north yesterday to photograph this lovely lady was well worth it. This is her second time in front of my lens, the first when she was 12 days old. I thought it wasn't possible to get any prettier when I saw her as a newborn, well at 9 months she has proven me wrong...

This little 8 day old did not want to miss a thing during his big photo day and insisted on being wide awake for the entire session... well except for about 10 minutes of sweet sleep at the end. Q: I loved that lamb pelt you used at the photo session, where can I get one for my baby?

A: I am asked this question at nearly every photo session where I use my lambskin, because babies sleep so well on them. It is very important that you purchase a lamb pelt that is processed especially for babies, avoiding harsh chemicals next to their skin. Here is some information about the Wool Pelt:

"Lamb pelts have the unique ability to keep your little ones warm in the colder months and cool in the warmer months. This is in part to the lamby's uncanny ability to absorb 30% of its weight in moisture. Sheepskin is naturally allergy free. The wool fibers are hollow, allowing for circulation of air around your little ones body. These lamb pelts are a natural product, they do not shed, are seed free and pesticide free. These lambskins can be easily cared for. The lamby can either be hand or machine washed.

Sleep time for small children has been known to double when placed on a sheepskin at naptime. Lambskin encourages tactile stimulation so necessary for children's growth and development."

I purchased my lambskin from a site that I personally know is local, and very reputable (I have photographed the owner's family). I recommend the "unshorn" pelt.

I have been anxious to announce some very exciting news to all of you, and I cannot hold back any longer... In the next few weeks I will be putting up a permanent art display of my photography inside Mommy Matters!

My trip to Santa Cruz on Saturday was short, and so sweet. This birthday girl was beyond excited that we were at the beach; a true "Beach Baby" wanting to jump in the water and eat sand. Although it was foggy and misty making the ocean look drab, the lighting was a photographers dream for portraits! Between the beautiful lighting and enthusiastic subject, our session together lasted just under and hour and almost every single shot was a keeper.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for choosing me to photograph your precious granddaughter, this past year has been a pleasure!

At 2 months old I was not sure if this little angel would cooperate. To my suprise, she slept solid for over an hour letting us maneuver her however we wished without much more than a little peep. Together, Mom and I created some of my favorite and most original images to date. Mom, thank you for your wonderful team work, beautiful home, and having the perfect baby!

Tomorrow is my big day with the twins I have been looking so forward to. Right after the session I am off to Visalia for a friends baby shower and then taking off for the weekend to Santa Cruz for another session. Check back next week for some more exciting postings.

Whew, what an extremely overwhelmingly busy 2 weeks this has been for me, and I still have 3 more photo sessions this week along with a mountain of photos to work on. This baby boom has really put me behind on my computer time... but don't worry Moms, I am working night and day to get to your requests.

I have been going non-stop forgetting to introduce my new lovely assistant to you. Meet Miss Christy, a degreed Artist and aspiring portrait photographer. She has been training with me for two weeks now and is quickly learning the ropes. She has already began attending photo sessions with me, and has been a great help with all the behind the scene things that I have needed to catch up on.

This was another memorable maternity session. Time flew by as we had fun joking around and finding fun poses with mommy's belly. Just one more month to go before meeting their little boy!

I constantly receive compliments on the mommy draped in the red cloth on my website, and many mothers have wanted to try it with their belly. The cloth went missing back in February, and just yesterday I was able to obtain a replacement... so Mom's, the red cloth is back and open for all to try!

This little 5 day old simply would not sleep for me... he was so calm and inquisitive making him a joy to photograph even awake. He seemed to not want to miss a moment of his big photo day. His awake images turned out wonderful, and he definitely holds the record for the best eye contact of a newborn I have ever photographed.

No newborn ever escapes the temptation of sleep, and I was still able to capture the classic sweet sleepy images I am always after.

I photographed this little guy when he was only 2 weeks old... what seems like yesterday has actually been 7 months. He is now a crawling machine, making keeping up with this little explorer all the more challenging. Mom wanted him to be photographed against black to show off is beautiful bare skin, and not only did we accomplish that, but we captured his sweet smile and sparkling eyes too.

A Busy Woman

I have been a very busy bee since arriving back from the coast this last week... I had 4 photo sessions, booked 6 more, received the prints for 7 orders I just completed retouching, sent off 6 canvas orders, dealt with a hacker trying to mess with my website while I was gone, received my new Mac Pro computer system, (complete with a 30" screen) and have been trying to set it up... all while spending 3 afternoons training a new assistant. WHEW! And this is not even my "busy" season. Not to mention I have 5 photo sessions this week and lots more to do.

Because of all of this I am a bit behind with posting on the blog, but I will get there... Here are some of the orders I received in the last couple of days. Look at the large stack of birth announcements!

These are the deluxe 5x7 folded cards. They are custom designed, come in sets of 24 and are genuine press printed cards. A set comes standard with each newborn session! They are the most beautiful, and highest quality cards I could find out there. I have been truly impressed with each set I receive in.

We are Back!

Our past 7 days was heavenly on California's Central Coast. My husband and I enjoyed the cool ocean breezes, walks on the beach, and sleeping in every morning. The two of us have been going non-stop in our respective worlds for months now, so this was a well deserved retreat.

Even though I was on a "break", I could not get photography off my mind. I had some time to explore the antique shops on the coast and found a couple of goodies to use with my future newborn subjects. I also had one of my all time favorite families join us on Tuesday afternoon for photos on the beach, I will be posting a sneak peek of their session soon.

Below is our attempt to take a photo to remember our second anniversary with. Well, without a third person this is a tough task. Luckily I brought my trusty tripod! Running to get in position after clicking that timer is always an adventure... especially in the sand dunes.

Although he was Mr. Serious in this test shot, my husband has a way of looking great in almost any photo I take of him. Thats Morro Rock in the background.

Celebrating 2 Years of Marriage.

My husband and I are celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary this week! Because my husband is beach man, I am taking him out of this hot valley to the cool breezes of the Central California Coast for a week. It will be a time of rejuvenation and fun. Stay tuned for the photos when we get back.

Another Big Boy

Yesterday I photographed my 3rd newborn boy in the last month or so that was over 10 lbs at birth. At only 5 days old, this little peanut gave me some of the biggest newborn smiles I have ever captured. Thank you baby "A" for an A+ performance!

Not quite... these two are cousins (and I am sure future best friends) at only 6 days apart. They are just over two months now, and it was a real gift to get them both asleep at the same time for such a precious shot. I photographed miss Amelia originally when she was only 4 days old, this time it was Olivia's turn.

I photographed this lovable bundle at 11 days old and he is already topping 11 pounds. He was a delightful baby to photograph, letting me move him around as much as I wanted. I loved this first image so much it is now displayed as the "intro" photograph to my website.

Another adorable photo shoot with little ladybug. (You may recognize her previously as the sleeping baby in the field from my March 6th blog post.) Mommy has childhood memories of her taking a bath in a metal tub outside, and wanted to capture those same backyard memories for her daughter. I think we got it!
